The exceptional region of Périgord Noir has a wealth of tourist attractions. Its magnificent scenery, rivers, and tourist sites make it the ideal choice for a holiday, a short stay or a long weekend.

The town of Sarlat is a beautifully preserved and restored old medieval town. In the summer months its famous market, guided visits and festivals create a lively atmosphere and in the winter three major events take place; the Christmas market, the truffle festival in January and the goose festival in February.

The Dordogne valley with its unspoilt natural environment is rich in important heritage sites; the villages of Beynac, la Roque Gageac and Domme, listed amongst the most beautiful villages of France, the sites of Castelnaud, Marqueyssac and many others. The valley’s natural setting is ideal for all kinds of activities and for relaxing.

The Vézère valley is renowned for its prehistoric sites which figure in UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites including not only the famous Lascaux cave, but also sites such as Font de Gaume and Cap Blanc. The town of Eyzies can rightly be called the world capital of prehistory due to the large number of sites to be found there and its museum.

Peace and quiet characterise this valley. It is ideal for family outings, walking and sporting activities (mountain biking). Quite apart from prehistory, the Vézère valley, like the whole of the Périgord, is an exceptional region with magnificently preserved heritage sites.
